Thomas Tuchel gave bold signals before his first hardship tests as Chelsea coach. Are the honeymoons already ending against Atletico?
Since Thomas Tuchel took over Chelsea FC, there have been the usual camps: the winners of the change of coach such as Antonio Rüdiger, Timo Werner or Marcos Alonso and the losers such as Ben Chilwell or Hakim Ziyech. And then there’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, who might be changing camps right now.
When the 20-year-old winger had been replaced on Saturday at 1:1 in Southampton for a break and after 31 minutes, Tuchel got to know a few English equivalents for the football vocabulary “Maximum Penalty”. There was talk of “humiliation” and a “brutal step”. And of course, some people immediately questioned Hudson-Odoi’s future at Chelsea, although he has been playing under Tuchel much more regularly than under Frank Lampard.
