Leroy Sané made his comeback 208 days after his cruciate ligament rupture. National coach Joachim Löw took a close look – as did FC Bayern.
Leroy Sané couldn’t get that big grin off his face. He felt “really good”, the national player said after his 57-minute comeback for the Manchester City U23 team in Premier League 2 at the Arsenal FC reserve (4:2): “I gained self-confidence and had no problems, I am happy”.
208 days after his cruciate ligament rupture in the Supercup match against Liverpool FC, which ultimately prevented his transfer to Bayern Munich, Sané’s return was a redemption – and at the right time. In three and a half months’ time, the German national football team will face world champions France in Munich for the European Championship, and key player Sane is once again a real option – even if he did not succeed in his comeback in front of a few hundred spectators at the Emirates Stadium.
