Bundeskartellamt ends proceedings against “Sky” & “DAZN

The Bundeskartellamt has discontinued proceedings against “Sky” and “DAZN” “on suspicion of anti-competitive agreements” in connection with the allocation of the broadcasting rights to the Champions League. The Bonn authority announced this on Wednesday that the decision had been taken on “discretionary grounds”.

The Bundeskartellamt’s letter stated that there was a suspicion that Sky and DAZN had colluded in the allocation process in order to “share the broadcasting rights for Germany among themselves”: “The rights to all matches were acquired by Sky alone and subsequently some of the matches were transferred to DAZN by way of sublicensing.
